Tailored for Swiss teens
Following the success of the More! site we were invited by Cambridge University Press (CUP) and their Swiss partners CIIP to develop a site to support a special run of their English in Mind course that had been tailored for young teenagers in Switzerland. CUP and CIIP specified that the site should be optimised for tablet use and should present as much of a course unit’s content as possible on a single page. The site’s design also needed to make updating content and swapping out games and learning activities as simple as possible.
Tablet optimised, modular and packed with games
Soon after design and development work on the site began, CUP invited us to pitch for the design and development of the HTML5 games that would be bundled into the Level 9e course units. We were of course delighted and jumped at the opportunity. We were fortunate enough to win the project and you can read about the resulting English in Mind Games on their project page.
As with other Cambridge sites we have developed, the Teacher Zone of the English in Mind site provides access to a wide range of audio, video and print-ready student and teacher resources. Access to these materials is controlled by a custom access control system we developed to interoperate with the site’s Joomla CMS and Cambridge’s customer support services.
The pilot for Level 9e launched on the English in Mind site in May 2013; Level 10e was released in May 2014 and the final Level 11e will go live in mid 2015.
